Sandy Scheltema
Sandy's speciality in documentary photography has seen her cover assignments such as illegal logging in Papua New Guinea, sight restoration in the Pacific and Africa, the genocide in Rwanda, child soldiers and aids orphans in Uganda and child labour in India for clients such as The Fred Hollows Foundation, Greenpeace, World Vision and Fairfax.
Widely published in newspapers and magazines in Australia and abroad, her work has also been exhibited in the Powerhouse Museum Sydney, Southbank London, the N.S.W and Auckland Art Galleries and the International Centre of Photography New York. She has been awarded the Quill and PANPA (Pacific Asia Newspaper Award) awards for her news photography and twice been a finalist in the Walkley Awards and United Nations Peace Awards. In 2020 she was funded by Regional Arts Victoria to document Life in the Time of COVID-19.
